A nude palette set the stage for one of the biggest beauty trends on the Spring 2011 runways: Neon Bright Lips. Some designers strayed away from the normal and took a walk on the bright side, where we got a taste of strong lips from favorites like Marni, Fendi and Jil Sander.

Dark, pale makeup has been officially pushed aside for something fun, youthful and unexpected. We know you can’t wait until that first 75 degree day break, so you can test your favorite spring trends. Here’s how you can pull off a perfectly etched powerful lip whether you choose to go super bright with orange lips, bold pinks, or a classic red.

MAC Lip Conditioner Stick SPF 15, $14.50

Step 1: Before you apply your color smooth out the lips and rid them of dryness and any cracks with a conditioning lip primer. MAC’s conditioner stick glides on easily and gives the lips UVA/UVB protection.

NYX Slim Lip Pencil in Pinky, $3.49

Step 2: After the lips have been conditioned define a precise frame with a slim lip pencil. A slim pencil helps you draw a precise outline and it locks the color in. For super bright lips, create a base by shading in lip color with the pencil before applying lipstick.

Sephora Collection Cream Rouge Lipstick in Love Test 11, $12.00

Step 3: Using a small lip brush smooth a bright cream lipstick on top of the lip liner.

Makeup Forever Microfinish Powder to Go, $15.00

Step 4: To ensure a crisp, clean pout dab a small amount of powder around the lip with a small lip brush to soak up any lip color that may have traveled outside of the lip liner.

Cover Girl Wetslicks Lip Gloss in Clear Radiance 360, $5.79

Step 5: Finish with a small amount of clear gloss in the center of the lip for additional shine.
