Moisturize, moisturize, moisturize—you know this is one of the daily rituals necessary to keeping your skin healthy, youthful and radiant. But which to choose? There are a lot of factors that come into play. It may seem obvious to lather on a heavier moisture if you have dry skin, or dab on an oil-free option it if you’re feeling greasy, but it’s not that simple. It’s about striking the right chemistry–discovering which ingredients interplay with your unique skin, and that takes experimentation, trial and error. I have combination skin, so depending on the weather, time of month, etc, different moisturizers work better than others. Here are 5 I love, each one with its own special qualities. Easy skincare tip: Apply moisturizer while your face is STILL DAMP to lock in extra moisture! The ANTIDOTE Quenching Daily Lotion by Skyn Iceland This is my current moisturizing crush, built to protect skin from stress (if you’re one of those people who mock me that my spa-job status couldn’t possibly involve stress, #wrong). I love the entire Skyn line. A mint derivative in this lightweight lotion makes your skin tingle and feel icy-cool, which helps improve microcirculation and reduce redness, and also leaves you feeling immediately fresh, sort of like your face chewed a piece of Dentyne Ice. – $45 Ultra-Calming Daily Moisturizer with SPF 30 by Aveeno I’m a huge fan of Aveeno products in general—a great organic drugstore brand. This moisturizer is especially good for sensitive skin types because of the Feverfew, a natural ingredient related to chamomile to help soothe skin and reduce redness. It’s a light, fast-absorbing, hypoallergenic moisturizer and the SPF 30 will keep your skin safe from harmful UV rays. – $15.99 SUPER O-Mega Moisture by Dr. Nicholas Perricone From my man Dr. Perricone’s SUPER skincare line comes this moisturizer, delivering a mega dose of the “Big O” (Omega 3) for intensive moisture to replenish dry skin. I use it at night because it’s on the heavier side. Each SUPER product contains a different superfood, and this one has Chia Oil from the Chia seed, which packs more Omega 3 gram-for-gram than flax or fish. When my skin is feeling (super)dry, I turn to this all-natural, reliable little container. – $40 UV SPF30 Tinted Moisturizer by Dr. Brandt I discovered this one many years ago at a Henri Bendel outing (back when they still carried clothes), and I later learned my uncle went to medical school with Dr. Brandt, so for both reasons, this moisturizer holds a special place in my heart. And on my face. It’s good for all skin types and is a fantastic option for summer–it contains SPF 30, it’s tinted to give you an ever-so-slight glow, and has a dry-touch technology to leave you with a smooth, shine-free, matte finish. – $35 Tinted Moisturizer SPF 20 – Illuminating by Laura Mercier When you work in an office full of women who are obsessed with spa and beauty products, it’s easy to find new stuff to love. Stephanie swears by this Laura Mercier tinted moisturizer and brought it in for me to test out for this story. Confirmed: this stuff is good. It’s lightweight and provides great coverage, and adds a bit of bronzing shimmer. New favorite, check.- $42 I showed you mine now show me yours… what is your favorite moisturizer right now?
