If you are reading this, you probably know what cellulite is and want this universal enemy to women destroyed. For those of you who don’t know, cellulite is a post puberty phenomena that knocks the awesomeness of getting boobs down a peg or two.

The simple definition of cellulite according to the knowledgeable people at About.com is, “fat cells that have bulged through cell walls into the skin’s middle layer, where they pull on connective tissue to create an unattractive, dimpled skin surface” Fun.

The dimpling effect occurs in 80-90% of post pubescent females and leaves most lower extremities susceptible to what I like to call ‘driving on a bumpy road,’ syndrome. Contributing factors include genetics, a high stress lifestyle, diet and exercising habits (or lack thereof), and overall bad luck.  There is no known ‘cure,’ for this unsightly situation; however you can find low cost techniques and products on the market designed to diminish the appearance of cellulite.

I personally recommend giving up cigarettes, reducing your consumption of alcohol, and exercising daily to combat cellulite from the inside; however you ladies are beat over the head enough with these tips so let’s discuss some topical creams!

Bliss Fat Girl Slim 6 OZ $29

Caffeine has always been credited with diminishing the appearance of cellulite, and this product is packed full of it. Suggested application involves massaging the product on target areas for 20-30 seconds to stimulate circulation and to shake your lymphatic system awake.  According to an independent clinical study, 87% saw a firming effect, 85% felt a slimming effect, and 73% noticed a reduction in the appearance of cellulite over a 28 day period. You can purchase Fat Girl Slim at Sephora nationwide.

Nivea Body Good-bye Cellulite Smoothing Cellulite Gel-Cream 6.7 oz $12.99

Bliss uses caffeine to combat cellulite while Nivea uses Lotus Extract and L-Carnitine to reduce the appearance of dimpling in about 4 weeks. You want to use this product daily on affected areas, and it claims to work without a massage (although I say rub in for 20-30 seconds anyway).  Nivea Good-bye Cellulite Smoothing Cream is available at drug stores nationwide.

Jergens Skin Firming Daily Toning Moisturizer 16.8 fl oz $7.49

Jergens Daily Toning Moisturizer is made with natural seaweed extract and centella asiatica, known to help increase skin’s elasticity and rejuvenate skin’s firmness for a more toned look. According to the product, “used daily for 2 weeks, skin’s firmness, texture, and elasticity are visibly improved.  After 8 weeks, skin is softer with increased moisture content and smoother with a visibly reduced dimpled appearance.”  This product is available at drug stores nationwide.

Each of these products contains an ingredient sited with reducing the appearance of cellulite. Try one or try them all, you have nothing to lose but a few dimples!
