Column by Jenna Nicole Levine

On a daily basis I see photos of models, actresses, and my own friends all over the internet with what is defined as the “sexy pout.”  When did vacant, ” I can’t remember my own phone number,” eyes and scrunching your face up like a nursing infant become the definition of sexy?  Somehow over time beautifully unique Lauren Hutton– esque smiles have been de-sexified and replaced by kissy-faces and peace signs in a cell phone-camera-mirror-Facebook-profile-picture. And don’t even get me started on the Olsen twins and their pursed I-refuse-to-look-happy smiles. Why aren’t women smiling anymore?

The health benefits of smiling and laughing are undeniable. Not only does this simple act foster relationships, but it releases endorphins! Are you too tired to work out this evening? That’s ok! Turn on Comedy Central and yuk it up. Additionally, laughter boosts confidence, and there is nothing sexier on a woman than an air of confidence. Laughter works your facial muscles, improves organ function, helps fight infections, and this miracle beauty treatment is 100% free.

Here are some great ways to keep your smile beautiful:

1.  Lipstick

It can brighten your whole face; however beware of lipstick on your teeth. It will detract from that beautiful smile of yours. Coming from someone with a tiny upper lip, I ask my friends for random spot checks.  If you want to avoid embarrassing lipstick-teeth, then try a simple, stay-put gloss like Clinique Long Last Glosswear SPF 15 available at Sephora for $14.

2. A White Smile

I have mentioned this before and I will mention it again, Go Smile Teeth Whitening Ampoules in Green Apple are a must have.  These little capsules are perfect for an on-the-go gal who loves to show her teeth.  You can find this product on Amazon.com for $15.

3. Fresh Breath

Altoid’s, my curiously strong best friend, are cheap and available at any convenience store. With fresh breath there is no excuse not to show those pearly whites.

Now go out there with a decorated and confident mouth and make some noise pollution with your laughter!

( I would like to dedicate this piece to my friend MaryAnne who is just as beautiful on the inside and she is on the outside. Keep laughing my friend.)
