As a part of January’s big “Better You” Giveaway, we are challenging our readers to put our five ideals for improved well-being into action. To help you “Live Better” we’ve enlisted our resident Joyology expert, Dashama, for some valuable advice.

Dashama says, “My happiness formula varies from day to day, but a few essentials are always at the top of the list and my go-to Rx if I am ever feeling down, lethargic, stuck, or confused.” We’re going to share ten of her best happiness tips with you to help make 2013 your best year ever – and challenge you to incorporate them into your daily lifestyle!

Tip #1: Breathe

The Latin word for inspiration is ‘inspirare’ which means to breathe in or to inhale. To invoke inspiration and joy, we must breathe consciously. Whether it is yoga class, running, pranayama or sex, nothing can shift your energy and improve my mood like conscious, connected breathing for a duration of time. It clears mind, body and emotions and connects me to my spirit like nothing else. I suggest at least 5-10 minutes, but even 10 conscious breaths can begin the shift to more joy.

Check Spa Week Daily for a new happiness tip from Dashama every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday throughout the month of January! You’ll also find some tips from other experts on how to eat, look, feel and sleep better this month – so stay tuned!

From now until January 31st, enter to win one of five great prizes in the Better You Giveaway!
