May is all about bikes (It’s National Bike Month) and May 17th is National Bike to Work Day – a holiday that all of us Manhattanites should be eager to take part in.

There’s been a lot of biking going on already this month: The 5 Boro Bike Tour happened two weeks ago, and the city is implementing the NY Bike Share Project – it looks like more and more people are getting around on two wheels.

Biking is not only fun, but healthy, too. It is one of the top forms of exercise AND leaves zero carbon footprint on the environment.

So if you missed National Bike to Work Day, not to worry! There are plenty of other National Bike Month Events to get involved in. Browse a few here, and remember — the goal is just to get on a bike. So even if all you can muster is a trip to spin class tonight, that’s something. Maybe you’ll work up the nerve to buy a bike and hit the road when the next National Bike to Work Day rolls around.

Happy National Bike Month and Bike to Work Day, everyone!
