Did you know that bourbon is a uniquely American whiskey? In 1964, Congress recognized bourbon as a “distinctive product of the United States.” The spirit’s been brewed here since the 1700s.

In honor of National Bourbon Day, Basil Hayden’s Bourbon worked with Marie Zahn, a top Louisville mixologist to create a cocktail to celebrate the holiday. Basil Hayden’s Spicy Brown Blinker is a twist on two classic cocktails: The Blinker and the Brown Derby.

To round out these gourmet collection, Basil Hayden had Chef Michael Symon create two cocktails made with Knob Creek©.

Knob Creek® Spice Of Life,

Ingredients:
2½ parts Knob Creek® Rye Whiskey
½ part White Peach Nectar
1 part Ginger Beer
4-5 fresh Mint Leaves
Directions:
Muddle mint, peach nectar and Knob Creek® Rye in the bottom of a shaker.Add ice and shake vigorously.Strain over ice and top with ginger beer.

Knob Creek® Summer Spice,

Ingredients:
1 ¼ Parts Knob Creek® Rye Whiskey
½ Part Fresh Lime Juice
½ Part Orange Liqueur
¼ Part White Creme De Cocoa
Directions:
Pour all ingredients into a shaker. Shake vigorously with ice and strain into cocktail glass. Garnish with lime wheel.

Ingredients:
2 parts Basil Hayden’s® Bourbon
1 teaspoon Honey Syrup
1 teaspoon Raspberry Vinegar
Grapefruit Soda

Honey Syrup
Ingredients:
1 cup Honey
1 cup Water
Directions:
 In a small saucepan, heat the honey and water.Stir until fully incorporated, then let cool and refrigerate.
Directions:
Add Basil Hayden’s® Bourbon, honey syrup and raspberry vinegar over ice in a Collins glass and stir. Top with grapefruit soda. Garnish with a grapefruit peel.
