Will Telescopic Shocking Extensions Mascara by L’Oreal Paris pass the road test? Read on and find out!

There are only a few things in life I prefer “fully loaded.” Baked potato? Pack on the bacon, scallions and cheese please. Caramel Macchiato? Pile on the whipped cream. Aromatherapy and hot stones with my massage? I’ll take it. And you can bet your bottom dollar I’ll be the token gal at your brunch table requesting extra olives, limes and celery with my Bloody Mary order. This same, guilty indulgence also accompanies my mascara application.

I’ve been using the same department store brand mascara for about two years now, and I take no prisoners when loading on the super-thick, super-rich, super-black product. The job isn’t done until I can literally feel the top of my lashes graze my eyebrow bone.  So you can imagine my excitement when I was asked to try L’Oreal Paris Telescopic Shocking Extensions Mascara ($9.95). With a bold name like that, I couldn’t wait to go to town. Right off the bat, I was pleased with its thin brush size, since I’ve learned to contrary belief, does a better job at providing length and separation than a big, beefy brush.

After the first strokes of the wand, I was impressed. My lashes quickly and effortlessly began to volumize in length and thickness. And then, regrettably, I made the inevitable mistake. I gave into the urge and began to repeat the dipping of the brush in between application, and then voilà: I’ve entered Clumpsville.

Too many layers:

Moral of the story: less is more. For best results, use in moderation for the most effective, effortless look. With just one coat (as opposed to the three layers I’ve been accustomed to) my lashes stood on their own with half the applying time. Best of all, I didn’t experience any flaking or smudging throughout the day which is a major plus in my book.

Single application:

If you’re a drug-store only cosmetic buying gal, I’d definitely give it a whirl. I won’t, however, be adding the Telescopic Shocking Extensions Mascara to my fully-loaded list.
