BlacMėra, is a combination of the words “black” and “merah,” which means red in the Indonesian language. Those two colors are Yuliana’s favorites and symbolize the East meets West synthesis of her design philosophy. For spring/summer, Yuliana drew her inspiration from ancient Egypt. She honed in on the Egyptian blue and terracotta shades that are found in ancient Egyptian artifacts. For the collection, she used Duchess and organza silk, lace and eel leather.

“I design for modern women with powerful careers who are well-traveled globally and have active social lives,” says Yuliana in a press release. “They are the new generation of philanthropists who are aware of global issues and contributing to improve them. I want my clients to feel regal, shining and powerful in BlacMéra, whether they are wearing our couture gown or holding our clutch or adorned by our necklace.”

Blacmėra was one of 15 designers selected to show at the recent  WWDMAGIC’s Emerging Designer Showcase.
