The most iconic name in the spa industry is opening a new NYC location this weekend, with a totally new concept to boot.

The already bustling Union Square is getting a red hot new addition this weekend—a brand new Elizabeth Arden Red Door Spa will open its doors this Saturday, November 23rd! This new sprawling 10,000 square-foot space will also introduce a unique concept to the Red Door Spa brand. The two level Union Square location will feature two separate entities—the street level “express” service area, and the lower level, which is a luxury spa complete with a soothing decompression lounge and polished locker rooms.

As the blow dry bar craze only continues to explode, more and more customers are seeking quick, focused services on a regular basis. Red Door has recognized the need to incorporate more express services into its menu, and they are now accommodating that customer in Union Square. The street level express area boasts beautiful glass windows and a stunning interior brimming with Elizabeth Arden’s luxury products. As soon as you step inside and out of the cold, you will truly feel you are in the lap of luxury.

This is where customers can go for quicker services (lunch break, anyone?), including “prettifiers” like lip facials, lash extensions, and a collagen eye refresher. This area’s treatments also include makeup application, a wide selection of waxing services and three manicure choices. They are even opening a blow dry bar for blowouts and scalp treatment add-ons. Finally, you can choose expedited facial treatments and five facial “extras” like peels, collagen blasts and eye treatments.

And of course, this location is also ready to accommodate customers who are looking for the renown Red Door experience! Book a treatment in the lower level of this location and experience “the calm.”  Downstairs you can decompress with Red Door’s signature menu of facials, massages, body treatments and luxury salon services. You’ll start by unwinding in a plush robe in the gorgeous relaxation lounge, where you can enjoy some delicious lemon cucumber spa water (a personal favorite!) while you wait. From there, you’ll be whisked into one of the plush treatment rooms to indulge in one of Red Door’s classic services sure to pamper and delight.

A couple of the Spa Week staffers got to experience some of the treatments beforehand to report back. Here’s our take on the new Union Square Red Door Spa:

Kelly: Makeup Refresher

I’m a fan of Elizabeth Arden cosmetics, so when I saw that makeup application was offered on the express menu, I couldn’t resist. As soon as I sat down in the chair, I felt a huge sense of relaxation and let my beauty expert, Lisa Faye, work her magic. I received a subtle smoke-eye that wasn’t too dramatic for going back to the office along with some bronzer, a little blush and a lip gloss finish. The perfect pick-me-up! Whether you have an important meeting or plan to paint the town red, this is a quick, no nonsense service for putting your best face forward!

Arielle: Red Door Signature Massage

My Red Door Signature Massage was 50 minutes of pure bliss. I was experiencing lower back pain that day and my massage therapist, Katherine, made sure to pay extra attention to alleviate my discomfort (which she did, very successfully!). The lavender aromatherapy and heated massage table were relaxing touches that made it difficult to move after. I could have stayed all day!

Melissa: Elizabeth Arden Essential Facial

I loved my Elizabeth Arden Essential Facial at Red Door! My esthetician Alie was extremely knowledgeable about my skin concerns and knew exactly how to help me improve my skin. The facility is stunning and clearly has a lot of options for pampering yourself–cannot wait to come back!

Kaitlin: Microdermabrasion Facial

Luxe. Luxe. Luxe! Red Door’s Microdermabrasion Facial is the one to beat in NYC. It’s a must for getting rid of the dry/dull winter skin. Renata’s attention to detail was amazing and left my skin feeling plumped and nourished.  She was so good, I might even call her the skin whisperer. I’ll definitely be back for round two, and three…

Breanna: Red Door Signature Manicure

After experiencing a Signature Manicure at the new Red Door Union Square, I don’t think I’ll ever be able to return to a typical “nail spa” ever again!  Cheme, one of the best nail technicians I have ever encountered, made my experience nothing short of amazing. Between the sugar exfoliation, exquisite cuticle work, paraffin hand dip for hydration (who doesn’t need a little of that?!) and picture-perfect polish job, I am very much looking forward to my next visit!  Tip–the manicure took almost an hour, of which I enjoyed every second, so do yourself a favor and don’t be in a rush to get somewhere else.

Will you be stopping by for a treatment at 200 Park Avenue South this weekend?! We’d highly recommend it…
