This Workout Wednesday we experienced Doonya – a Bollywood-inspired fitness class that boasts a seriously tantalizing playlist!

Last Workout Wednesday we sampled Doonya Abs at New York Health & Racquet Club’s Fall Fitness Preview, and we were immediately obsessed with the fast-paced, Bollywood-inspired workout class. So when we had the chance to test out the entire sweat session this week, how could we say no?

Doonya is quickly taking the fitness world by storm, large in part because it is a workout unlike any other. Incorporating Bollywood-inspired music and dance, Doonya targets your abs, arms and legs – burning an impressive 800 calories per class!

While dance classes aren’t our typical go-to, there are several factors that made the Doonya experience an exception. For one, our instructor Priya radiated such confidence and positivity that it made it impossible not to let loose – literally! And, because the dance moves are inspired by rich Indian tradition, the steps and motions are far less cheesy than the ones you’re subjected to at Zumba.

And then there was the music. The Doonya playlist is at the heart of what makes this fitness class so special. From strong, powerful songs that inspire fierce squats, jumps and leg lifts; to graceful tracks that complement long, lengthening moves, it’s clear that the music and movements are carefully coordinated.

We were so mesmerized by the energizing and vibrant Doonya playlist that we had to add it to our arsenal, and of course we HAD to share it with you! Check it out below, and head over to to book a class and find out what the buzz is all about!
