Spa Week bookings are in full swing, and we’re not the only ones celebrating wellness. As a matter of fact, today marks the third annual International Day of Happiness! In 2011, the UN General Assembly officially recognized happiness as a “fundamental human goal.” The resolution invited all 193 nations of the UN to elaborate on the resolution to “better capture the importance of the pursuit of happiness and well-being,” and to let the concept guide their public policies.

To mark the occasion, March 20 has been declared the annual International Day of Happiness. This year, the campaign is inviting people worldwide to focus on their connections with others. A free “Happiness Pack” is available at the official website, where you can see a world map showing happiness pledges worldwide.

We’ll be celebrating International Happiness Day by taking a moment to appreciate the people in our lives who have influenced and inspired us in positive ways. And to spread some more happiness around, we’ve got this year’s Spa Week packed with indulgent treatments for only $50! Check out Spa Week in your city and celebrate International Happiness Day by indulging in your own moment of bliss.

Of course, here at Spa Week, happiness and wellness are always at the top of our list. We believe there’s great pleasure and peace in self-care, and it’s easy to see how our favorite products, treatments and wellness practices add touches of happiness to our lives. Check out some of our other favorite products and treatments below, and then tell us what makes you happy!

Dr. Bronner’s Soap

Every fragrance of Dr. Bronner’s organic soaps offers something to the senses. I couldn’t live without my peppermint and eucalyptus scented liquid castile soap. The scent is fresh, natural, and a little sharp, turning my shower steam into a head-clearing aroma treatment. Follow with a cup of coffee and you’re ready for the day! For nighttime baths, try the more relaxing lavender scent.

essie Nail Polish

Nail polish: It’s a timeless pick-me-up. I can’t count the times I’ve cheered myself up after a long day in the city by dipping into the nearest drugstore and treating myself to a bottle of pretty nail polish. Essie’s new spring collection offers a delightful array of colors to fill you with spring cheer.

Aromatherapy Treatments

Spa Week editorial director Ani Palen was happiness personified this week after her aromatherapy massage at Pure Blends Organic Spa & Apothecary. Let’s not let her have all the fun. An aromatherapy massage is the perfect way to center all your senses and soak up some bliss. Check out our special Spa Week deals to find $50 aromatherapy treatments near you!

Pretty Candles

Talk about ageless appeal. While we don’t have any historians on staff, we’re guessing the tradition of pretty, scented candles stretches back to long before recorded history. You know well-heeled women in Ancient Greece must have had great taste in candles! These days there’s no lack of options, and you can find a lovely fragrance in a pretty package at almost any price point. But it never hurts to invest in a classic, and you can’t go wrong with Diptyque. Check out their mini-candles for a bargain-version of this luxury staple!

Soothing Burt’s Bees Products

If you haven’t seen the latest Burt’s Bees products, you’re in for a real treat. It’s no surprise that the company you trust to hydrate your lips is now rolling out tons of amazing lotions and moisturizers. Trust us, these products will leave your skin happier than ever! And that’s not all. Burt’s Bees just debuted a squeezable version of their popular lip balm. If that doesn’t say luxury and convenience I don’t know what does. Want to try it for yourself? You’re in luck! In honor of the International Day of Happiness, we’re giving these away on Facebook and Instagram.
