We tried out a green juice margarita that’s a healthy alternative for Cinco de Mayo. Keep reading to see if it’s actually worth the swap!

I am not a green juice person, but I am a cocktail person, so when I received a recipe for a healthy green juice margarita I knew I had to try it. You know, for research. And, since tomorrow is Cinco de Mayo, I wanted to know if you can really celebrate the holiday without completely ruining your diet.

The average frozen margarita packs a serious punch, and we don’t mean the good kind. These summer favorites often contain loads of calories, as well as a high sugar and sodium content. The sweet syrups and thickly salted rims taste fantastic but are, obviously, horrible for you. But this recipe is packed with tons of healthy ingredients like avocado, kale, cilantro, and romaine, delivering some serious nutrients with a crisp, green juice taste.

So, is this green concoction actually tasty enough that you’ll be able to confidently pass on the jumbo strawberry marg you’ve been craving? Well lucky for you, I made everyone in the Spa Week office test it out. The verdict? If you’re any kind of “green juice person” whatsoever, you will absolutely love this cocktail. If, like me, you aren’t the biggest fan of the earthy tasting liquid, you can still happily sip on this beverage knowing that, although it isn’t the most delicious flavor you’ve ever tasted, it’s loaded with nutrients. And, of course, some tasty tequila.

Ingredients

  • 1 LuliTonix Chill! green juice
  • 1/2 avocado
  • 1 cup ice
  • 1/2 lime (just cut in half and squeeze)
  • 1/2 tsp turmeric or 1 thumb fresh turmeric root (optional, for extra kick!)
  • 1 cup of fresh pineapple (optional, for a little more sweetness)

Simply put all the ingredients in a blender and mix until smooth. Pour the concoction into your favorite glass. For an extra festive look, garnish with a lime slice on the rim. Enjoy and stay safe this Cinco de Mayo!
