I guess it is through the little things to show how much I appreciate her. I like to show up with small gifts or just to take her out for lunch.

Simply…..saying I love you. We don’t live near one another, so calling, texting, sending pictures, flowers, etc. She says she doesn’t need material things, so it makes even more special when she receives something and it’s unexpected.

I show my mom with the things I do for and with her. I tell her and hug her. Her health isn’t very good so I help her clean and take care of her yard. I spend as much time as possible with her as one day I won’t be able to anymore. I value every minute we have. Tomorrow is never promised to anyone.

My Mom lives with us and every one of her needs are addressed by myself or my husband. She is nearly blind, so her limitations are many. It’s funny how sometimes our roles in life are reversed! No doubt though, this is a ‘labor of love’ and we are fortunate to have Mom’s love so close.

Spending time with her when ever I can and I telling her every chance I can that I love her. She is not one that likes for people to buy her things, she says she can do that herself, she says that doesn’t show love. It is the small thoughtful things you do that she says shows love, like a phone call or a visit. Since we live in different states now, I make sure I call her at least 3 times a week and things like I watch certain TV shows that she likes even if I don’t just so she has someone to talk about them with, it is the time together no matter how you do it, I even send her emails when I see something that reminds me of her, just to let her know I was thinking of her.

Okay, this might sound weird or gross, but I show my mom love by trimming her toenails every few weeks. She is elderly and can not bend down anymore, so after her asking other people in the family, with no luck, I volunteered. Now it’s kind of my duty to take care of that issue, so it would be nice even just once, if she could win this spa gift card and have a professional trim, and color her piggies!
