Not all of us were blessed with ultra-thick and voluminous hair. Whether your hair is super fine or has thinned out over the years, there are many ways you can fake thick hair. Here are some tricks that will help you transform those thin locks into fuller, more luscious looking hair.

Choose the Right Cut

Ladies with long hair— consider going shorter for more thickness. Choose a short or medium length cut for straight or wavy hair, or a medium length cut for super curly hair. The longer your hair gets, the more weighed down it becomes, resulting in finer looking hair. A layered haircut can make it look thicker too, as long as it’s done right. Layers can give your hair more body, movement and volume. However, overly layered hair can actually make your hair look thinner, so the right balance is key. Your layers should provide lightness at the bottom and heaviness at the top, with a fresh, blunt cut at the ends.

Bumble and bumble's Surf SprayEmbrace Your Waves & Curls

If you have wavy or curly hair, don’t be afraid to flaunt it. Like layers, embracing your hair’s natural waves and curls will give it more body, providing the illusion of thick hair. Use a curl cream or sea salt spray to tame and beautify those gorgeous curls.  Try Bumble and bumble’s salt-infused Surf Spray for beachy, windswept texture.

Ditch the Straightener

Do you frequently straighten your hair? If so, you may want to rethink how you style your hair. Straightening flattens and softens hair, only making it look thinner. Not to mention, it can also cause hair breakage. Instead of using a flat iron, add body and volume with a blow dryer or curling iron. To blow dry your hair straight, create more volume by brushing your hair upward and focusing on the root. For beautiful curls, let them sit for 10 minutes before gently combing them with your fingers for more fullness.

Tease, Tease, Tease

Tease your hair to give it some lift, whether you’re wearing it up or down. For a beautiful and polished look, teasMoroccanoil's Luminous Hair Spraye it at the root to form a pillow of hair. Then, spray the teased area with a good hair spray like Moroccanoil’s Luminous Hair Spray, and use a brush to smooth it over.

Don’t Overload Your Hair with Products

You may be using a bunch of different haircare products to give more volume to fine hair. While you have good intentions, overloading your hair with products will do more harm than good. Stay away from oils, serums, and leave-in conditioners, as they will only weigh your hair down. Instead, use a weightless volumizing and texturizing spray to add body and movement. Women with thin hair should also shampoo less often, but when you do, be sure to use a volumizing shampoo and conditioner.  On your off-days, massage dry shampoo through your hair to create volume and fullness.
