We’ve all had those days when we feel bloated and want nothing more but to hide behind a baggy top or sweatshirt. But, ’tis the season for bikinis and crop tops, so that belly bloat just has to go. Here are five natural ways you can ditch the bloating to gain confidence and look and feel slimmer.

Start the Day with Lemon Water

Make a cup of hot lemon water a part of your morning routine. Lemon water is teeming with many powerful ingredients, including vitamin C, fiber, vitamin B complex, and bioflavonoids, which get your digestive system moving. If you don’t like the taste of lemon water, you can drink green tea with lemon. Get the full scoop on lemon water here.

Once you have your daily dose of lemon water, keep a water bottle with you at all times, so you can make sure you’re staying hydrated throughout the day. Water helps rid your system of toxins and extra sodium, which can cause feelings of puffiness and bloating.

Don’t Binge on Sugar

To avoid bloating, avoid or limit the amount of sugar and sweeteners you consume. Fructose, a natural sugar found in honey, syrup, soft drinks, and processed foods can be difficult to digest and cause bloating problems. Sorbitol, which is used as an artificial sweetener in candies, chewing gum, and cough syrups, is metabolized very slowly, resulting in bloating and gassiness.

Cut Back on Sodium

Sodium can contribute to feelings of puffiness too. Eating foods high in sodium can make your body retain water, causing temporary fluid weight gain and bloating. To cut back on sodium, stay away from processed and packaged foods, and don’t add extra salt or seasoning to your meals. Instead, eat foods that are closest to their natural state, such as fresh fruit and vegetables. Find out how you can keep your sodium consumption at bay when you dine out here.

Take Up Yoga

Yoga poses can help you reduce bloating in several ways. First, a good yoga workout makes you sweat and flushes toxins from your body. Secondly, it improves your digestive system. When your digestive system is out of whack, you can feel bloated and sluggish. Doing some yoga twists and stretches will help improve your digestive system and get it back on track.

Slow Down When You Eat

Eating too quickly can lead to poor digestion and bloating. When you eat too fast, you can swallow air with your food, which contributes to bloating and stomach gas. Take the time to eat slowly and enjoy your meals to prevent bloating and discomfort.
