Sculpted brows have become a mandatory everyday essential (just look around), there’s hardly an arch out of place these days. Whether seeking professional help or DIYing it, there are some tips and tricks that are absolutely necessary to ensure your brow game is on point. We spoke to Malynda Vigliotti, owner of Boom Boom Brow Bar, (and brow obsessed devotee) to have her share with us her 5 best tips and trick of the brow trade.

Don’t neglect the area above the brows

Removing hair from the bottom can create lift, but forgetting to clean up the top area is the difference between bold and beautiful and just plain old bold.

Work on both brows at the same time

“Brows are sisters, not twins,” so don’t meticulously shape one and then try to get the other to look exactly the same.  Instead, go back and forth throughout the process to gauge what needs to be done to make them symmetrical, not identical.

Take a Step Back

When staring into a mirror, every little hair is assessed rather than the overall shape, make sure to view the entire face, not just your brows.

Removing less is always more.

Just removing the stragglers and letting the rest be can work magic! Word to the wise – be honest, tell the esthetician if you are using medications that make the skin sensitive (like Retin-A, retinol, Accutane, antibiotics, Benzoyl Peroxide, and even Proactive). These medications are designed to exfoliate the skin, so if any wax is applied, it can literally lift the skin off like it’s a piece of parchment paper.  That’s when tweezing is the best bet for brow maintenance. Although Boom Boom Brow Bar does use “Flash Wax, which  is a low-temperature lipo-soluble cream that is so gentle, it can be used on ALL skin types,” so don’t be afraid of a wax sensitive skin ladies!

Be Original

There is no universal perfect brow shape.  Everyone has different features that come into play, so make sure to look like yourself and stay true to your natural features. This way, at the end of the process, you won’t end up looking like someone else.
