The Peel Bar by BeautyRX

The episode of Sex and the City when Samantha decides to get a chemical peel just days before Carrie’s first book launch party is probably one of the most memorable episodes of Season 5. And if you’re anything like me, it’s the first thing that comes to mind when you hear the words “Facial Peel”. I mean, who really wants to end up looking like this…

So when the BeautyRX team offered us the opportunity to try their signature two-minute glycolic peels, I was ready to say no. But my curiosity peaked when I learned that the treatment promises zero recovery time – there is no peeling, no redness, no flaking and no inflammation. (A chemical peel with no peeling or redness? I needed to know more!).

The Peels on Wheels team arrived to our office Monday afternoon and immediately began easing the minds of my co-workers that were brave enough to get the treatment done in the middle of the day.

First, we learned that Dr. Neal Schultz, a New York City based dermatologist and the founder of BeautyRx, has become known for his professional-strength, two minute, no-downtime glycolic peels. The in-office treatment with Schultz runs about $225 but if you visit one of his pop-up peel bars, you can get the same quick, exfoliating treatment for just $50.

After a brief introduction to the brand and the facial peel process, we were ready to go. During a glycolic peel with BeautyRX, you can expect the following:

  1. First, an oil free makeup remover wipe is used to clean the skin of any makeup or dirt residue that is sitting on the skin.
  2. Next, the skin is prepped with the Dr. Schultz Clarifying toner – it completes the cleansing process and it balances the PH of the skin so the chemical peel is received properly.
  3. Next, the Tetrafoliant 30% peel is applied to the skin. You may experience minimal tingling for the 2 minutes while it is settling into the skin.
  4. After that, the Tetrafoliant peel is then neutralized with water.
  5. Lastly, the Solar Defense Sheer Sunscreen SPF 50 is applied followed by the Nourishing Moisture Cream to nourish your newly glowing skin!

As for the results, well I’m a firm believer in showing rather than telling so check out this video of the peel.

5 Reasons Why You Shouldn’t Be Afraid of a Facial Peel

  1. A facial peel can unclog pores and remove trapped makeup and dirt that most at home exfoliating products or masks don’t reach.
  2. A facial peel stimulates the growth of health skin cells and collagen production.
  3. A facial peel reduces signs of sun damage, dull and uneven skin tone, scars, pigmentation, acne and enlarged pores
  4. A facial peel removes all of the dead skin cells sitting on the surface of your skin which will allow:
    1. Your makeup to apply more flawlessly;
    2. Your skincare products to penetrate your skin more effectively
  5. A facial peel penetrates the skin to smooth rough texture, patchy skin and discoloration.

Special thanks to the BeautyRX team for their Peels on Wheels!
