This fall you can reap the beauty benefits of your favorite seasonal ingredients with these genius DIYs.

Fall DIY Beauty

After a summer spent slathering on sunscreen and spending tons of time outdoors, it’s no shocker that by fall your skin could use a serious pick me up. Not to mention the fact that issues like chapped lips, frazzled hair and an uneven complexion are often intensified by the change of season.

Nevertheless, as we transition from summer into fall, these common complaints are actually easy to address. Check out our Fall Beauty Tips, below, to find out how you can keep your glow looking gorgeous and your skin moisturized and smooth well through fall so you’re ready for winter!

1. DIY Lip Scrubs – Store bought lip scrubs often contain chemicals and ingredients that can actually make lips more chapped! Your safest bet is sticking to homemade lip scrubs so you know exactly what you’re slathering your pout with. One of our favorite (and edible!) lip scrub recipes uses ingredients you probably already have at home. Combine 1/2 cup Coconut Oil, 1/2 cup White Sugar and 10 drops of Peppermint Oil. Once a thick paste is form, store in the refrigerator in a sealed container.

2. Vitamin C Serum – If you soaked up a little too much sun this summer (wearing SPF of course!) then you’re likely seeing some skin issues flare up. Breakouts, dry patches or an overall dull complexion are some signs that you’re skin needs some soothing. Luckily, Vitamin C has been shown to reverse sun damage, while also stimulating collagen production that perks and plumps parched skin. Another bonus – it lightens sun spots! Deliver a serious dose of the beauty elixir with Vitamin C Serum that you can DIY at home. Mix 1 teaspoon Vitamin C Powder, 1 teaspoon distilled water, 1 teaspoon glycerin and a few drops from a Vitamin E capsule. Mix ingredients until resolved and store in dark glass bottle. Apply at night to clean skin.

3. Pomegranate Face Masks – By now you’ve probably heard that pomegranates are packed with the antioxidants responsible for keeping skin healthy. And while we love snacking on the tart fruit that will soon be in season, there’s an even better way to reap the beauty benefits from this ingredient. Simply blend pomegranate seeds in a blender to create a thick place and apply to skin. Once it’s dry, wash off with cold water and pat dry. You can expect to see less breakouts, improved hydration and firmer skin thanks to the natural healing properties of this super-food.
