For as long as I can remember, my mother ingrained in me the importance of taking good care of my skin. When I was 5, she would emphasize how I must dry my body entirely so there is no excess moisture left (especially between my little toes to prevent fungus) and immediately moisturize after with lotion. To this day, I still feel guilty if I don’t properly abide by her rules.

So, unsurprisingly, skincare is an enormous part of my life. I love it, breathe it and consider myself a guinea pig because of how frequently I am testing new products. Hence, asking me if I have a favorite product is like asking Guy Fieri what his favorite diner is. There is no single answer.

But – if I had to give an answer, I would list a few serums that have been consistently high on my radar. Perhaps it’s the drop in temperature that’s making serums take high precedence in my skincare routine, or maybe it’s my fear of forehead wrinkles that’s drawing me to serums more than the usual.

Out of the many, many serums I have tested, ahead are celebrity-approved serums that I have also found to fulfill its two most important jobs: extra hydration and anti-aging.

Eminence Bright Licorice Root Booster Serum (dermstore.com, $56)

English Actress Thandie Newton told Harper’s Bazaar she uses Eminence’s Booster Serum after cleansing. She notes that you must be consistent, or else this product won’t work. It’s lightweight so it won’t cause breakouts and will mix perfectly with your SPF moisturizer. Plus, a licorice scent will get you ready for the holiday season. Am I right?!

Estee Lauder Advanced Night Repair Synchronized Recovery Complex II (esteelauder.com, $95)

Claimed to be a cult product, it’s no wonder Supermodel Joan Smalls admitted it to being her beauty secret. Although it’s condoned as a “night” serum, she mixes it with her SPF 15 day moisturizer. It truly penetrates into the skin to erase impurities, ultimately helping you achieve a patch-free complexion.

SkinCeuticals C E Ferulic (skinceuticals.com, $165)

I had to save the best for last. Call this product the holy grail serum, I can promise this $165 product will transform not only your skin, but your life. Brooke Shields uses it because it brightens her skin tremendously due to ingredients like Vitamin C and E. Within just one week of use, I noticed my skin looking younger and more refreshed, reminding me of how my skin looked like when I was just 16.
