Nobody likes the flu, and since it’s supposed to be especially bad this year, we’re doing everything we can think of to avoid it. Here are our tips to stay healthy this year.

The Basics

Getting sick this time of year may seem inevitable… you’re bottled up inside, everyone’s got something contagious, and it’s freezing outside! Luckily, there are some simple things to do to avoid that dreaded flu.

Wet Hair + Cold Air = No Mas Don’t go outside with wet hair. Seriously, don’t. What your mom said was true and leaving the house with wet hair in the winter is never worth it. No time to blow dry your hair? Check out our favorite dry shampoos.

Get Plenty Of Shut-Eye. Getting enough rest is always important but especially in the wintertime. Get at least 8 hours of sleep every night to keep your immune system sharp and ready to fight back against the flu!

Wash Your Hands… a lot. Personal hygiene is something we vouch for year-round, but washing your hands regularly is one of the most important ways to stay healthy this season. Any time you’re in a public space– the subway, a restaurant, or a shop– make sure you wash your hands before you go and after you leave.

Spa Treatments

The spa can help you ward off infections too! All spa treatments help relieve stress and relax you– a key component of avoiding the flu. Relaxing will also help you get a better night’s sleep, which is SO important this time of year!

If you’re looking for treatments that are especially good this time of year, we recommend searching for treatments that incorporate Vitamin C, like the Vitamin C Facial at SKN SPA in New York.

Another great treatment option for flu season is aromatherapy. Choose your favorite scent and breathe deeply.

It can be hard to stay healthy during flu season, but follow these tips and you should get through these next few months without catching anything!
