February is heart-health month and here at Spa Week, we like to paint the town red for heart disease awareness all month long! If you haven’t already, enter our Heart over Heels Giveaway— we’re giving away a free pair of Louboutins and donating to the American Heart Association for every entry we receive!

One of the most important ways to keep your heart healthy is by regularly working out–cardio is key. Here are 5 workouts that are great for your heart!

30-Minute Walk

Walking is an important part of any good exercise regimen and it’s one of the best ways to get (and stay!) in shape. Take the first step to heart-health and add a daily walk to your routine.

Swimming is one of the best low-impact exercises anyone can do, and it’s a great option for anyone who suffers from joint pain (or just hates running). Swimming is also one of the hardest cardio workouts– you’ll definitely feel exhausted after a few laps.

You might not think of yoga as an intense cardio workout, but it can be. Practicing yoga can be invigorating and it’s low impact– so you won’t be straining your muscles, but you will be helping your heart health and your mind.

30-Minute Bike Ride

Cardio is super important but going for a run when you’re out of shape can actually be harmful to your heart. Take it slow with a 30-minute bike ride around your neighborhood (or on a stationary bike)!

Climb the Stairs

Whether you’re just walking up and down the stairs at home or you’re using a StairMaster machine, climbing up a few flights of stairs is a great workout for your heart. Choose the stairs whenever you can and you’ll be on your way to a healthier heart!
