It can be hard to find your perfect routine any time of year but finding your perfect travel skincare routine is even harder. You need products that have travel-sized options and your skin needs extra attention after a long flight and days of traveling.

I recently took a trip to Europe and experimented with a bunch of travel products to craft the perfect routine. Here’s what was in it:

Cleanser: Dermalogica Pre-Cleanse Balm ($15), Dermalogica Daily Microfoliant ($15), and Dermalogica Special Cleansing Gel ($12)

Travel Skincare Routine dermalogica cleansers

An effective cleanser is really important when you’re traveling so if this seems like a lot of steps– don’t panic. I used 2 of these products in the shower at night and 2 in the morning, and it took no time at all.

The first step in my nightly travel routine was Dermalogica’s Pre-Cleanse Balm. A lot of experts will tell you that just using a cleanser is fine when you’re traveling and trying to cut down on multiple products. Don’t listen to them. A pre-cleanse balm is designed to help melt away dirt and makeup before you start cleansing your face (because a cleanser really isn’t going to get everything off). This product is gentle and essential in getting your face fully clean.

I chose to use the daily microfoliant in the morning– as it brightened my skin and left me feeling ready to take on the day– but you can use it whenever you want. You can skip this step if you don’t mind dull skin (but we all mind that, don’t we?!)

The cleansing gel works efficiently to remove dirt and makeup from your pores, leaving your skin feeling completely clean and hydrated.

Toner: Dermalogica Multi-Active Toner ($12)

Next up– a multi-use toner. This hydrating and soothing spray is the perfect accessory to your daily routine. Toners help cleanse any product left after an effective cleanse, and they replenish your skin’s hydration levels, which will be low during any trip.

Nighttime Serums: Sunday Riley Luna Sleeping Night Oil ($55) and Vintner’s Daughter Active Botanical Serum for Face Travel Size ($65)

Sunday Riley’s Luna Sleeping Night Oil is a holy grail product that deserves the title. It’s so effective– and fun to use (because it comes on bright blue but transforms to transparent as you rub it in). The product is designed to help your skin rejuvenate and recover overnight– and it works. I noticed an immediate change in my skin– it looked clearer, brighter, and poreless

Vintner’s Daughter is a product you should never leave home without, and lucky for you, they just launched the most convenient travel version to carry with you everywhere. This “mighty mini” serum is definitely mighty; it’s packed with so many active ingredients (literally 22) and vitamins that it works on every aspect of your skin. When you need to condense your routine into just a few steps, this is the perfect product for you. The serum is effective for clearing skin, preventing acne, slowing and preventing aging, and so much more.

Daytime Serum: Sunday Riley Juno Essential Face Oil ($45)

Travel Skincare Routine Daytime Serums, Sunday Riley

For our morning routine while traveling, we like to keep it simple, since we’re going to be applying makeup afterwards and we don’t have all day to get ready. This serum is easy to use and a great multi-functional treat for skin. It’s nourishing, has great anti-aging benefits, and is the perfect way to hydrate your skin before you take off for a busy day.

Eye Cream: 100% Pure Coffee Bean Caffeine Eye Cream $26

Travel Skincare Routine, 100% Pure Eye Cream

Eye cream is always essential, but it’s even more important when you’re traveling. Jet lag can cause some massive dark circles and puffy eyes. This cream is perfectly portable and uses natural ingredients (like caffeine) to reduce dark circles and puffiness and brighten your eyes.

Primer: La Roche Posay Anthelios Daily SPF 50 Primer ($50)

Travel Skincare Routine, La Roche-Posay Primer

After using your moisturizer of choice, lather your face in this incredible primer. It’ll help keep your makeup on, but more importantly, it’s got SPF50 in it, so it’ll prevent any damage you might see from a long trip. It’s perfect for busy days outside when you won’t have time to stop and fix your makeup.

Shampoo & Conditioner: R + Co Sunset Blvd Travel Size Blonde Shampoo + Conditioner ($14 each)

Travel Skincare Routine, R+Co Shampoo and Conditioner.

The hotel’s shampoos and conditioners don’t really ever cut it for us, so we opt for an easy travel size option. Obviously this is not a great choice for the brunettes among us, but if you’re rocking the blondie look, these are a great cleansing option that will brighten and lighten your locks.

Toothpaste: Marvis Amarelli Licorice Toothpaste ($5)

Travel Skincare Routine, Marvis Toothpaste.

Why not treat yourself while abroad?! We love the licorice toothpaste from Marvis because it literally takes like candy. Clean teeth are always important, and we love that this toothpaste is super portable and easy to bring anywhere.
