Sometimes a healthy lunch is hard to find in New York City. The temptation of fatty and fast food is high in a city that moves as quick as this one does. But as New York Fashion Week dawns, we all strive to be a little bit healthier in the hopes that maybe we could fit into those sample sizes. So with that goal in mind, we made a list of our favorite lunch spots around the city that have lunches that are both delicious and healthy for you. 

Sweet Green

The take-out salad scene can be a boring affair at times. Wilted greens and flavorless dressings can put a damper on any lunch time meal. Enter Sweet Green: a game changer when it comes to anything salad related. It is the destination for anyone who is looking for healthy, delicious tasting food. The best part? All of their ingredients are locally sourced or organically grown – or both! Sustainability and flavor are the name of Sweet Green’s game, and it shows.

Avant Garden
  Vegan food can be hit or miss at times, but no one hits it out of the park like Avant Garden. Their dishes are refined in a way that rivals most high brow restaurants, but without the snooty atmosphere. Comfortable and homey, it’s the perfect place to settle down for a bite to eat and an organic glass of wine.

The Butcher’s Daughter

If you can’t get through the day without a juice and a good avocado toast, The Butcher’s Daughter is the place for you. Though it’s menu is mostly vegetarian and vegan, the portions are good and the juices shine. A great stop for breakfast, lunch, or dinner, their menu is varied enough to please just about anyone!

The shop is 100% vegan, plant-based, and kosher certified and reminiscent of an old-time lunch counter. Metal lunch trays and all! by Chloe has filling fare comparable to fast food – except better tasting and better for you!

Beyond Sushi

I know what you’re thinking – isn’t sushi already pretty healthy? Sure, unless you’re ordering everything tempura fried. But Beyond Sushi does just what their name describes. They go beyond traditional sushi. They’re all about plant-based, health conscious food that celebrates flavors and locally-sourced, seasonal produce. Beyond Sushi’s pairings are definitely unconventional, but they definitely wow both visually and with flavor!
